SOLVED: Background video not working in section

Bricks Version: 1.5.3
Browser: Opera latest
OS: Win 11

Hey chaps,

Adding the full youtube URL or via metabox custom text field (with full YT URL) in section > Style > Background > Background video does not work, also reported on FB by another user:

Many thanks

Thank you Michael for reporting the bug on the forum :pray:t3:‍

I am the original author of the Facebook post, and I will be building a website soon in which this option working fine is critical. I hope we can get an answer soon about this.

Much love!

Hi Mick & AarĂłn,
Thanks so much for your report!

Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the issue. Neither with the section, container, or block element. Can one of you record a quick screen video and show me the problem? Is anything output in the console when you paste the youtube link?

The only thing I noticed is that the positioning of the iFrame is not correct when I scale the video bigger (I already added this to the bug tracker).

Best regards,
timmse

Hello Timmse

Thanks for your reply.

I made a video about the issue. No plugin is activated.

Hi all,
I was having this same issue and I found that if I added the YouTube URL to the section background before I added my custom class it would work. Once I added my custom class it would just be blank and nothing was output in the code.

Not sure if this applies to your issue but I hope it helps.

Brad

Hello bpollitt, thank you for trying to help :pray:t3:‍I have tried that but nothing happens :see_no_evil: I even tried adding it via dynamic data, creating an url field with ACF, but nothing happens.

Hmm… weird @UbuntuProductions.

Please send temporary login credentials and a link to this thread to help@bricksbuilder io, and we’ll take a look.

In the FB post, it looks like the BG video is set on a custom breakpoint.

@Michael On which breakpoint did you add your background video?

@UbuntuProductions Thank you so much for the login details.

I’ll update this post as soon as I got more news. But I am pretty sure it’s due to the BG video set on a breakpoint other than the default “Desktop”. Which is a bug that’s rather quick to fix

Hello Thomas

Yes, I can confirm that is a custom breakpoint. I did not think about that. Happy that if that’s the issue, it will be quick to fix :green_heart:

Hi @thomas, apologies for throwing a spanner in the works, but mine does not work when applied to the default base breakpoint.

If you need me to ping you across a login link to investigate, just let me know.

Many thanks

Mick

Interesting. My issue with the video background was resolved :tada: hopefully yours will be fixed soon too.

Awesome, I’m glad you got yours sorted Aarón! I’m sure mine will be too

@Michael Sure, you can PM me some temp login details, then I can upload the fix to your site as well for testing …

Hello!

I know that this should be solved, but I have just experienced the same bug, today.

What I have is a section with a custom class. When I add a video to the background, nothing happens. If I delete the custom class, add the video at the id level, and then add again the custom class, everything works fine.

But if I add the video to the id level and with the class still on the section, it doesn’t work either.

The class has to be completely removed from the section in order to work. And then there is no problem on reassign the class.

It’s really strange!

Hey, which version are you using?

Can you provide a live link where I can see a section with a directly assigned class, and another one with a reassigned class?

Hi!

I am using Bricks 1.6.2.

Here you can see the website. At the homepage, there are two hero sections. One has had the video URL from YouTube set on the ID level when there were no classes on it. The second one have the same video URL set on the class level.

All right, I can reproduce the issue and added it to the bug tracker :ok_hand:
