WIP: Builder Lag: Massive CPU Spikes when working with dynamic data

Hi Stefan, do you got any news for us?

Hi guys,
quick status update:

We separated the mentioned problems into three internal tasks in total since they are not related:

  1. CPU/Memory/ Server Performance issues
  2. Structure panel: renaming lag
  3. Structure panel: reordering lag

For 2), the renaming lag, we already have a potential solution that will probably be included in the next version.

The other two tasks are still in progress. @charaf will email some of you who have sent us access data, as we need further information to address 1).

We will update this thread as soon as we have a solution :crossed_fingers:

Hi @bloom, @ruffzen , @artur.lewandowski, @glasschan, @ST90, @jcsneves, @ARAKZ and others facing server CPU usage spikes when using the builder:

Could you please share temporary admin access to help@bricksbuilder.io with a link to this forum thread? Also please point us to which page or template where the issue can be observed.

We received multiple access details, which were quite useful in identifying other issues (e.g. structure panel renaming lag, reordering lag, duplication lag). But now weā€™re trying to get more information about the server CPU usage spikes specifically. So far it seems to be related to pages with dynamic data.

Hi @charaf,

do you have any progress for us? Im really desperated because of the massive lags and need a solution soon.

Thanks
Philipp

@philipp No one provided admin access for this specific issue other than you so far (thank you).

So unfortunately, no updates I can share as of yet.

In my case, I have rebuild the whole site from scratch and the problem disappear. So it must have been a conflit at some point.

No progress makes me really desperate, cause I cannot really work anymore with these lags. I am not the only one: Across multiple communities people talk about the massive builder lags, some already think about leaving Bricks.

Your answer does not give me any hope that this will get resolved. I can only share my login credentials and ask for your support, as I did.

@ruffzen, @artur.lewandowski , @glasschan , @jcsneves , @ARAKZ can you please share your admin details? Otherwise this will never get fixed :frowning:

@philipp weā€™ve received multiple admin details about different performance issues, many of which were resolved and should be included in the next release (e.g. strucutre panel renaming, reordering elments, duplicating elements).

So Iā€™m not saying that this wonā€™t be fixed or that youā€™re the only one with the issue (evidently by this thread others reported the same CPU spikes issue but didnā€™t provide access details). But since we donā€™t have steps to replicate the issue locally from a fresh Bricks install, we need access details to multiple sites so we can investigate and hopefully find the culprit and work on a fix. So you sharing access was quite helpful but weā€™re gonna need more.

Good to hear, that the structure panel lags will be resolved soon - could you tell me when that update will be released? Is it possible to get the fix upfront, cause Duplicating Elements takes minutes for me.

As for the CPU spikes: I tried tagging all the people that had those lags across various communities and hope they will share their credentials.

Yes, Iā€™ll get in touch over email

Hi everyone! Not sure I specifically had CPU issues but more than happy to provide access to one of the latest sites where I had more of an issue with Structure Panel renaming, CSS class manager being basically unusable because of the lag and extreme lag when moving an element, in structure panel or on the canvas.

Iā€™ll link to this comment in my email and mention your username @charaf, yes?

Sounds good :ok_hand:

The same thing here. I have a page with some dynamic data and echo tags, and when I save the page, the server goes to 300% and goes offline. I have to rename these folders to themes_old and plugins_old for it to return to normalā€¦

Did you send the login credentials to bricks support, @wild ?

@charaf you got any news? I just hit a new record cpu spike of ove 1000% and my clients start to complain about the resulting 504 timeouts

@ruffzen , @artur.lewandowski, @glasschan, @ST90, @jcsneves, @ARAKZ and others facing server CPU usage spikes when using the builder:

Did you send your ssh login credentials to @charaf?

SSH? Why SSH?

I sent my WordPress credentials and am in touch with him.

It is for the CPU Spike issue, which you did not describe, hence WP login should be enough in your case

I do have CPU issues and detailed those. Just didnā€™t share a screenshot of my CPU usage. They have admin access and that seems enough. @charaf do you need SSH access? If so, why?

Okay, than I dont understand why Charaf isnĀ“t asking you for SSH login - he told me they need SSH acess to investigate the CPU Spikes. He also told me I am the only one who shared SSH acess, and hence there is no solution yet.

@philipp from @pascald 's comment, he seems to have had different issues:

Weā€™re in touch with Pascal as well

@pascald if youā€™re also facing server CPU usage issues when editing certain pages please let me know over the same email thread so we can look into that as well.
