Created a dashboard template using the new account builder, however the dashboard is showing up twice in the builder. One is there immediately after I created the template, before adding the account page element. On the frontend it shows neither of them, just empty. My WooCommerce page settings is setup correctly, pointing to a my account page.
Read in a similar topic that editing the my account page with Bricks directly works for them. It doesn’t for me, still empty on the front end. Also I prefer having Bricks builder disabled for page editing anyway and using templates instead. If editing pages directly is the only way, why would these Woo account builder templates even exist?
WP and all my plugins and theme are on the latest versions. Either I’m missing a crucial step, doing it entirely wrong or otherwise a bug. In any case, some advice is very much appreciated.
Can you please share temporary admin access to help@bricksbuilder.io with a link to this thread using the same email address you used to purchase Bricks?
Thank you for sharing access details. The “Account - Page” element is only meant to be used in the “My Account” page ( for designing navigation + content wrapper). The new templates are used for designing the actual “content” inside the wrapper.
I have updated the academy article to emphasize this more:
We’ll also look into making sure the element is not accessible when editing a template to avoid any confusion.
However you also mentioned that even editing it on a page doesn’t work for you on the frontend. I think that’s because you have this single template which is being applied for the entire website:
sorry for the late reply and thanks for your help so far.
I still think it’s a bit odd that I have to enable Bricks editing on pages, just for this single My account dashboard page. Would rather have a template for that, just like it is for all of the other my account end points. Oh well, probably has a good reason behind it.
Also, I was expecting some kind of specificity in the priority of template conditions. So that a template with entire website as a condition is overruled by a template with a more specific condition, like one that is specifically targeting a certain page. Is there currently no way to achieve that behavior with Bricks template conditions?
One last suggestion regarding the My account pages. I don’t see an option for enabling/disabling certain end point pages. I think that would be a valuable addition, when we want to prevent users from editing certain account details.
You’re right, it would be great to have some “specificity” for templates. Please feel free to submit both of these ideas to the ideas board which allows other users to add their take on it and lets us know which features to prioritize
