WAIT: Query Loop returns two posts instead of one

When setting up a blog archive page with two layouts, one for the latest post and another for other new posts, the layout for the latest post consistently displays two posts instead of one. This error persists regardless of using the default query method or a custom PHP function for the query. Interestingly, the query functions correctly when displaying two or three posts in the latest post layout. The issue is specific to querying a single post.

Thanks so much for your report!

Is it possible that the second post is sticky? If so, you can enable “Ignore sticky posts” in the loop settings (above “Disable query merge”).
