WAIT: {post_title} Dynamic Data Converts to Plain Text in Heading Element

Browser: Chrome 110
OS: macOS / Windows / Linux / etc.

I’m using a Bricks Query Loop, and inside the loop I have added a Heading element.

In the Heading element, I’m using the dynamic data tag:

{post_title}

Initially, the dynamic post title displays correctly as a heading. However, after some time, the dynamic data seems to automatically convert to plain text/static text instead of remaining as dynamic data.

Expected Behavior

The {post_title} dynamic data should remain dynamic and continue displaying the current post title from the Query Loop.

For example, if the loop is displaying different posts, the Heading should dynamically show each post’s title:

  • Post 1 → Post 1 Title

  • Post 2 → Post 2 Title

  • Post 3 → Post 3 Title

The dynamic {post_title} tag should not be converted into plain/static text.

Actual Behavior

After some time, {post_title} is automatically converted to plain text, so it no longer behaves as dynamic data inside the Query Loop.

Hi @msaad

Unfortunately, we were unable to reproduce this locally from the details provided so far.

Can you please provide a link for us to check? Converted to 'Plain text ’ mean every loop is also outputting the same text? Also, some screenshots would be helpful too.

Jenn

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

It doesn’t convert to plain text immediately. The issue happens randomly after some time, so it’s difficult to reproduce consistently.

Also, this issue does not occur on every Query Loop. Some Query Loops continue to work correctly, while on some others the {post_title} dynamic data randomly gets converted to plain/static text.

I’ve attached screenshots showing the issue for reference.

I just wanted to follow up on this issue, as I haven’t received any further response yet.

The issue is still concerning because the {post_title} dynamic data randomly converts to plain/static text inside some Bricks Query Loop Heading elements. Since it happens inconsistently, it’s difficult to reproduce, but it affects the expected functionality of the Query Loop.

I would appreciate it if your team could investigate this further, as manually fixing the affected Heading elements is not a reliable long-term solution.

Looking forward to your response.

Hi @itchycode

I’ve experienced the same issue on my end. It seems to be related to the dynamic tag {post_title} when used inside a Heading element within a Posts Loop.

Initially, everything works fine, but at some point (with no consistent timeframe), it picks up the title from the first post and saves it as static text. As a result, the same title gets repeated across every subsequent item in the loop.

As a workaround, I switched to the Post Title element, which seems to be working fine so far.

I understand this might be difficult to reproduce immediately, but that’s what makes the issue even stranger. If it happened while editing the page, that would make sense. However, in my case, the page was completely untouched, and the issue suddenly appears one day without any changes.

Hi @arbabh and @msaad

Thanks for the information, but we still can’t reproduce the issue.
If you can reproduce it, please record a video + screenshot and share us the setup, best with admin access via email (help@bricksbuilder.io) So we can directly login and check.

@msaad, the screenshot shows that {post_title} resolved the same post ID in each loop. High possibility that some plugins or custom code changed the global $post inside each loop and causing the issue.
