When I go to add padding or margins, I select REM and then try to add the value but the number field is unresponsive. To work around it. I enter the number first with PIXELS selected, then I switch to REMS.
I don’t have this problem.

Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the issue. Can you try to deactivate all installed plugins and even browser extensions?

On occasion, I use this method. I admit I sometimes rely too much on the mouse to get things done. Sigh.

WeLoVeBricK’s suggestion is in any case the faster and easier way, since you have to type the value anyway.
But if the problem persists, it will fix itself in one of the next versions (probably 1.5.1), as we will adjust the input fields either way 
I also experienced this issue and I’m on 1.5 release. I used the same workaround as the OP here.
