I have noticed that frequently when I click on an item in the builder or structure panel, the left-hand panel stays in the list of modules rather than changing to styling options. I have to save and reload the builder in order to edit the modules.

Welcome to the forum, and thanks so much for your report!
Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the issue. Would you be so kind as to provide a screencast showing and explaining what’s happening (+ visible developer tools console)?
Maybe it’s worth disabling all plugins and testing again - especially if you’re using any caching. If you’re using caching, exclude pages containing the ?bricks=run parameter.
