yes, I also find it. so everytime you add a image to image gallery, you have to sellect all images.
Hi Eric,
you can simply hold cmd/ctrl while adding or removing images to keep the existing images.

Hi @timmse, that’s not really a solution, I’m afraid, at least on a Mac. Because the cmd key also triggers keyboard shortcuts in the browser.
So when you hold down cmd and then try to search for an image in the media library, the moment you start to type you’re likely to open another window, close the current window or trigger some other action – depending on your search term.
But if you let go of the cmd key for searching you immediately lose all previous images. And you can only add one new image anyway if you want/need to search.
The only way to make this work is to scroll through the library to visually find the image(s) you want to add.
Or am I missing something?
Best,
K.
Hi Carson,
it works perfectly fine for me even on macOS: https://vimeo.com/695141546/35ed386bd5

Thank you for sharing the video, @timmse.
After trying this out again, several times over, I finally figured out that it’s imperative to hold the cmd key while clicking to add an image. If you don’t, the current image(s) will erase all previous images – the behavior that started this thread.
This may not technically be a bug but it definitely calls for improvement. Arguably, the default behavior should be adding images when you click on “Add Images”, without fear of losing the previous selection – especially since there’s the “Clear” button to deliberately get rid of all current images.
Cheers,
Carson
100% agree here. The current implementation is clumsy and un-intuitive.
I have to agree with the others here. Adding and managing the images is quite unintuitve. Especially considering there’s a native solution for managing galleries in WP.
It would be much better, if you used the native WP popup for image gallery instead of popup for single image. Then you wouldn’t need to rememeber holding CTRL/CMD, and you could also rearange the images right in the popup. I’m coming from Elementor and they use exactly this method. Much more intuitive, I have to say. And it also brings consistency to the way the galleries are managed across WP (at least when using Classic Editor, not sure how Gutenberg does this).
