User friendly ore only for specialist

Dear brick friends,
it’s nice when you, who are specialists, can let off steam with bricks.
I bought the lifetime license and unfortunately I have to realize more and more that the program is actually only suitable for people who are familiar with CSS and HTML. I started building my site with Bricks and have now finished it with Website X5. It’s actually a shame when I consider what Bricks offers, but unfortunately not user-friendly for home use.
I thought I would learn something from the forum. But it’s always about loops, CSS, categories, etc.
Unfortunately, there are no real tutorials and if it wasn’t for Stefan, I would have given up long ago.
I still hope there are better templates or tutorials out there. I can’t find any instructions on how, for example, shortcodes for a google calendar can be built into Bricks.
Maybe the developers want to pay more attention to the questions from the specialists.
It’s just too high for me and I’ll probably get out. If there are more users who create their homepages on this level, then I would appreciate feedback.

Afaik there is a shortcode-element or you can use a code element, depending on your use case.

If you want to build a website, it’s generally an advantage if you know some HTML and CSS. You wouldn’t open a restaurant if you don’t know how to cook…

But you don’t need to know HTML or CSS. You just have to try every option then and see, if it does the thing you want.

So, not sure if it’s really a Bricks problem…

I am convinced that it is not due to Bricks, but there are users like me who might be happy about a tutorial where different possibilities are shown. Type in the Bricks Academy shortcode or calendar and see the result. Some programs provide a manual for their software.
When I buy a washing machine, I want to know how it is operated. I don’t need to have studied engineering for that.

The documentation and supporting material is lacking unfortunately. The only reason I can get around it for the most part is due to past experience in the industry. I can appreciate where you’re coming from as I’m someone who appreciates well-written and detailed documentation. With the influx of Oxygen users recently, documentation may be even more important sooner than later too.

I’ve offered before to assist but I know they’re focused on development right now, and with so many breaking-changes, it’s fairly difficult to properly document everything in a way that’s long-living (i.e. when things are changing so rapidly, documentation becomes all the more difficult and less worth the time investment). Hoping once 1.5 comes out soon then things will settle around the breaking-changes and the documentation can soon after get the much needed attention it deserves. I’ll always be around to help with the documentation if the Bricks team desires it.

With that said - while you may be frustrated with learning the software, feel free to post anytime in the forum or in the Bricks Community on Facebook as there’s a ton of people happy to help when we can. It’s a good community, please don’t be discouraged - we’re here for you. By the way, popular people in this space are also starting to migrate towards Bricks so there will eventually be a lot more content on YouTube as well for training videos and such which will be a big help to many people I’m sure.
