UNDER REVIEW: Unable to edit any element (sometimes)

This seems to happen sometimes, but not every time. I can’t put my finger on exactly what scenario causes it but seems to be much more common when using Firefox. ( Try environment )

After adding an element I can only edit it sometimes, nott sure why or how. Often clicking the edit icon doesn’t give me the edit panel for that element.

Sometimes I can hover over an element and get the coloured icons pop up, but sometimes no amount of clicking will make them appear. Even if they do appear sometimes clicking on Edit doesn’t change the left menu to the Edit context but it stays at the widget display.

At the moment I have managed to add a container and drop a heading and an image into it … but can edit none of them and the Structure display only shows the Container, nothing else. lol

Regarding the editing of the section, the edit icon is working fine for me. But, when I trying to access the edit by right-clicking, I have to right-click for many times only it gets the response. And, copy the style of the section, row, column do not work.

I can confirm various difficulties while editing in Firefox. Sometimes it’s hard to select the Element for editing, moving element around is also very tricky.

And when I try to drag the element from the left panel to canvas, the popup “are you sure you want to leave the page” appears.

@alanj Does the “Edit element” issue still exist in Bricks 1.2?

@Blackeye The Firefox DnD issue should be fixed in version 1.2. Can you confirm?

@thomas Sorry Thomas but still huge problems on Try using Firefox.

The earlier issue with the Edit button not working at all seems to be fixed now, at least I’ve not seen it reoccur. However there remain issues with adding and moving Elements and the Structure Panel.

I just added a container with 3 inner containers ( using your layout tool thing - nice but maybe add the gap size as an option ? ) All looked good and I added an image into each of the 3 inner containers. I went to select a picture but chose unsplash, before realising I didn’t have an api. On cancelling that I was returned to the WP Dashboard rather than back to editing the page as I expected.
I then went back an editied the page again ( it had lost the previous new containers of course ).
Tried to add them again and tthey appear in the Structure panel but do not appear on the page!
Tried setting a background colour but can’t see the elements at all.
Reloading the Canvas ( great idea ) and voila the Containers now appear.

However I am still unable to move elements around using the Structure Panel. I’ve added an image and wanted to move it into an inner container, but it refuses to move using the Structure panel.

It is hard to move images using the elements on the page as the size of the image means things keep moving around as you drag, hence why I’d prefer to use the Structure panel ( Also because the Edit/Move icon is always in the same place so I don’t have to go looking for it depending on Element type ).

I eventually managed to get the images inside each inner container by dragging one inside on the Page, then cloning it so I have 3 images inside one inner container. I can then use the structure panel to drag the images into the other inner containers. It seems if they are already indented then they can be moved to a similar indent on another container, but if they are at the outer level then that is where they want to stay.

Hope that makes sense?

Still on the https://try.bricksbuilder.io/t9fe31df/structure-issues-1/ page if you want to see.

Thanks
Alan

Would you mind recording a short video screencast using the yellow “Feedback” button in the playground builder? The video will only be visible to our team. That’d help a lot to better understand and see the issue occurring in action. Thank you!

Aaagh, so frustrating. When I use the Feedback tool, where does it save the video? I got dumped back in the editor before sending so have I lost that video now? Can’t find it anywhere.

Use Loom and share the link here. It will auto-copy it for you when you finish the recording.
