SOLVED: Website became unbearable slow when Bricks is active

Browser: Firefox 112.0.2 (64-bit)
OS: Ubuntu 22.04 64 Bit
URL: https://proudehomes.com

Please I need help. Our Woocommerce site is extremely slow anytime Bricks is activated. The issue started over the weekend with a sudden spike in server resources. We then migrated from shared hosting to a VPS with a vast difference in resources.

When the default theme (Twenty Twenty-three) is activated, everything is fast and furious with 89 and 100% speed for mobile and desktop respectively on PageSpeed Insights.

The store was originally built with Elementor and then rebuild from scratch with Bricks. Everything worked just fine till last weekend. Right now, the store is non-existent due to the sluggish speed.

I would appreciate any help, please. I have tried everything, I didn’t get the issue at all.

Thanks.

Hi Claudius,
Thanks so much for your report!

The key question is what happened last weekend  Plugin updates? Any other major changes?

Would you be so kind as to send temporary login credentials and a link to this thread to help@bricksbuilder.io using the email address you used during the purchase?

Best regards,
timmse

Thanks for the quick response. I have sent the email. Regards.

I am getting this server error when trying to load your page

Internal Server Error

Oops! Something went wrong.

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Error Code: 500

This looks to me more of a server issue than a Bricks issue.

Anyway, Timmse will find the culprit.

Cheers

Patric

It is not a server issue. When any other theme is activated, everything works as expected. The issue has been escalated to the Bricks team. We’ve been able to pinpoint the origin of the issue to a specific time and event. I’m sure @timmse will help resolve it hopefully.

[QUICK UPDATE] I deleted the .htaccess and there was a huge difference in the speed. The team is looking into the cause though.

I keep my fingers crossed that you and your team find the issue!

Oh… We got it solved. @itchycode from Bricks logged in and fixed the issue. Speed is consistently at 90% on the desktop now. Mobile is still at 61% though but really better than it was this morning. Thanks for your time.

Great!

Curious to know what was wrong…

I don’t have the full answers yet. I will update you when I understand it better. But the store is working fine again.

Hi @dovely,

As per my email reply, the root cause is missing SVG.

This is related to another issue SOLVED: Missing SVG used up all PHP processes

However, we have already identified the problem and the fix will be included in the next release.

Jenn

Hi guys,

We’ve fixed this issue in Bricks 1.8 beta 2, now available as a manual download in your account.

Please let us know if you are still experiencing issues.

As with any beta release, please do not use it on any production/live website. It is only meant for testing in a local/staging environment.
