SOLVED: Skip links z-index missing after update in Bricks 2.0

Dear Bricks Team,

on all of the websites I have updated to Bricks 2.0 the z-index:9999 is missing in the .skip-link class in the header.
Is this the new default, is this a mistake, or are there any reasons for this?

Thank you very much

Berthold

Hi Berthold,
Thanks so much for your report!

Since the skip links have always caused problems, we have been using a different approach (similar to what boootstrap does) since Bricks 2.0 alpha, see: SOLVED: Skip to main content and Skip to footer links show in public site

So yes, this is deliberate. Does this cause you any problems?

No problem, I will just add the z-index to the skip links class manually for GDPR reasons in Germany.

The problem is it is not visible anymore, unless we set a z-index for it in the custom CSS. It’s different from what the Bootstrap does, which does not have this bug.

Bricks – Visual Site Builder for WordPress check your own website with Tab key. Can keyboard users see it?"

Yes, thank you! We have also noticed this in the meantime - will be fixed in the next version.

Skip links are a strong requirement for accessibility purpose especially for keyboard users.
When the next version will come? I don’t want to apply z-index on skip-link class on each of my websites.

Unfortunately, I can’t give you any specific ETA, sorry.

This really should’ve been pushed as an immediate hotfix the moment it was discovered imo

Easily fixed manually by disabling the cascade layer or adding the CSS, but those are fixes that a minority would know about or even how to implement.

We’ve fixed this issue in Bricks 2.0.2 now available as a one-click update in your WordPress Dashboard.

Please take your time to read the changelog entry before updating: Bricks 2.0.2 Changelog – Bricks, and let us know if you continue to experience issues.
