SOLVED: Images are not loading since Bricks 2.4 when using Bunny.net to offload images

Hi Bricks team,

Since updating to Bricks 2.4, images on our site are no longer loading.

Our findings so far:

  • The issue started with Bricks 2.4. and was still present in 2.4.1 and 2.4.2
  • We downgraded to Bricks 2.3.13 to fix the behavior.
  • The site uses the Bunny.net Offloader. We’re mentioning it as part of our setup, but we haven’t confirmed whether it’s related.

Could you help us investigate what might be causing the images not to load in Bricks 2.4?

Greetings

Hi @Hawei

Please set up a staging site that can replicate the issue and share admin access with us via help@bricksbuilder.io (Include this forum thread URL as a reference in your email)

I will investigate the issue. Thanks.

Hi,

Unfortunately, our infrastructure is quite complex, so setting up a separate staging environment that accurately reproduces the issue would require quite a bit of time and effort. Additionally, setting up further Bunny.net instances would involve extra costs.

As mentioned in my initial post, Bunny.net was only a suspicion, and we’re not sure whether it’s actually related to the issue. We also haven’t encountered this problem on any of our other websites.

What we do know is that everything works fine with Bricks 2.3.13, while the issue occurs with Bricks 2.4 and later.

Would it be possible for your team to take a closer look at what might have changed regarding image loading in Bricks 2.4? Unfortunately, recreating our infrastructure in a staging environment isn’t really feasible for us at the moment.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi @Hawei

There are changes to file-availability checks and image URL resolution that could be relevant in 2.4, but we cannot confirm which path affects your site yet.

Please share admin access with us (help@bricksbuilder.io) and include this forum thread URL as a reference in the email.

We’ve addressed this in Bricks 2.4.3, now available as a one-click update in your WordPress Dashboard.

The update removes automatic hiding of media based on local-file availability. Please retest your affected Bunny-hosted images after updating.

Please read the changelog entry before updating, and let us know if you experience any issues.
