I’m not sure I understand what you mean by “behave as if they’re being styled at the ID level”.
I’ve tried replicating your setup and it seems to be behaving as expected:

I understand the scenario better now and can confirm this is a limitation with custom SVGs controls. I’ve added this to the internal bug tracker to tackle this.
For now, as a workaround, you could apply some custom CSS to the class:

We finally fixed this issue in Bricks 2.0 alpha, now available as a manual download in your account (see changelog).
Please let us know if you are still experiencing issues.
As with any pre-stable release, please do not use it on a production/live website. It is only meant for testing in a local or staging environment.
