SOLVED: Icon "overlay" over Image - no hover state?

Browser: Chrome 110
OS: macOS / Windows / Linux / etc.

I have a problem with the icon over an image element.

Unfortunately, when I select the “icon” option under Content Settings for an image and then define a hover state for this icon-overlay, it doesn’t show up in the frontend…

Is this simply not possible, or am I doing something wrong?
If it´s not possible, is there a better way to get a hover state?

Thanks for any help, Kai

Hi Kai,
Thanks so much for your report!

I was able to reproduce the issue and added it to our bug tracker.
The problem is that the wrong selector is addressed. The only temporary solution is custom CSS.

timmse

Hello Timmse,
thank you very much for your answer. Unfortunately, the icon function of the element image does not work at all now.

Hello friends

Are you talking about the ICON option in the image widget?

May I ask what the icon option does in the image widget? It seems to be enabled by default, but I don’t see any icon on the image. Am I missing something?

Exactly. i want to use the image as a link and assign a “normal” and a hover-state for the icon.

Hey Kai,
It works for me without any problems. Do you have a live link so I can see the problem?

hey timmse,

ah, i get it… Before the icon will appear, I have to define it with the Link To function. For me it was not clear, you have to know that… Now it works fine

Is it also possible to define the icon so that a popup opens when clicked?

Now it works for me too. But may I ask what is the use of this?

I’m glad that you now understand how it is meant

No, you would have to build that yourself and assign an interaction to the icon that opens the popup.

The use of the icon overlay? To indicate that you can open the image in a lightbox, or link to an external source, for example

Right, thanks @timmse

Is the only way of making this work is to have the icon added for both the off and the :hover state with the off state being 100% transparent?
