SOLVED: Filter: Not working on Category Archive with child categories

Video: Short screen recording that illustrates this issue

Hi,

I have an Archive Template for parent categories where I want to show the posts from child categories. When setting up a filter for that query loop, it doesn’t work. It shows correct child category names on page load initially, but when picking any category, it displays all the existing child categories.

Not sure if I set everything up correctly (please, see the screenshots). I also have Polylang installed, but when it’s deactivated the filter doesn’t seem to work either. Thank you.

Try this:

Define the query loop as you did, without the “Taxonomy Query” part. Remove that part.

Is it working ?

Hi @Maxim ,

If it’s a query in the archive template, please set it as Main Query.
And you shouldn’t set the Taxonomy Query on the Post Query Loop.
Bricks will merge the query automatically.

If it still doesn’t work, please send admin access to help@bricksbuilder.io and include this thread URL as a reference.

Regards,
Jenn

Thank you @tresorama and @itchycode, removing Taxonomy Query made it work.

But there seem to be another issue now. When choosing a category, every other one disappears, so only All Categories and an active category remain visible (please, see the video). It differs from what I’ve seen in Bricks YT video, where all buttons remain visible at all times.

I’d be grateful if you could take a look and tell me if I did anything wrong again.

In the element “Filter - Radio” disable “Hide empty”

I tried that before I posted. The issue stays the same, except it displays all the categories which is not what I want. Also, other related child categories become empty if I choose one of them. Please, see screenshots below.

Before:

After:

Try clicking on “Update Filter Index” in “Filter -Radio”

Is it working ?

That didn’t change anything unfortunately.

Hey Maxime,
It would be great if you could send us your access data. Thank you!

Hi @Maxim ,

Thanks for the login details.

I can see you have solved the initial issue after removed the taxonomy query.

For your second issue, which you have to reset the filter or the other options are not available, which already been reported here.

It will be fixed. WIP: Radio filter: cannot filter between terms in term archive (need to select "all" to filter by different term)

I will mark this thread as solved. Please follow the thread above for your second issue update

Regards,
Jenn
