SOLVED: Exit to page option for Bricks logo

I don’t understand why there’s not an option to ‘Exit the builder’ which closes the builder and takes you to the page you were working on at the front end.

'Preview is the closest to the missing option, but is a little confusing because preview is also over on the right hand side of the toolbar.

Is there a reason why this option is not available?

It is something I would like to see as well. Exit button that closes the builder and open the page you were working on in the front-end.

Thanks Sherissa. Yes, it puzzles me why this isn’t an option.

This is already possible using the “Preview” toolbar logo link option, which brings you to the front end of the page you are editing.

The “Preview mode” eye icon in the builder toolbar hides the builder toolbar and panels, but you are still inside the builder.

Thank you, but we are referring to when we or the client/editor have finished editing and want to exit the builder to the actual page.

@thomas this post seems to have been marked solved, but it is not solved.

Yep, if you set the toolbar logo link to “Preview”, clicking the logo in the builder brings you to the page on the front end. Just make sure the “Open in new tab” checkbox isn’t set. As that’d open the page in a new tab, and the builder would stay open in the current tab.

Thanks @thomas but when you hover over that, the tooltip says: Go to preview.

I know we can use ‘Preview’ to effectively exit Bricks, but my point is that it is not clear to an editor that this is how to exit the builder to the frontend page.

@sly Agreed. We can rename the builder toolbar link option “Preview” to “View on frontend”. Shall we do that?

Thanks very much for looking at this closely @thomas.

I think it would be clearer to the editor if the option was something like: ‘Exit builder to frontend’ or ‘Exit to frontend’.

Then it would be clear that they are exiting the builder.

(I love how customisable Bricks can be. I even changed the icon to show the user how to exit).

“Exit to frontend” can be misleading if the link doesn’t open in a new tab.
But we can go with the “View on frontend” as we already use this for the “eye” icon tooltip.

You can always further localize any strings of the theme to your liking with a free plugin like Loco Translate.

Understood, thanks very much Thomas.
