I may not know how to use it and where but how can I miss right clicking, clicking “Copy” then go to another edit session and clicking “Paste”?
None of the recommendations for Firefox or Chrome worked for me.
I did a test with Safari, after ignoring the SSL Cert for MAMP I was advised to set up, and I can copy a block from either a template or the element on a page.
I’ve tested again and cannot reproduce the issue in chrome or safari (on macOS).
Both sites (one live, the other locally using localwp) are using HTTPS.
Ok, working in Firefox Dev now. I had set these before and when I checked again, they were still set to true, yet before it did not work, this time what!!?? it did work.
No success in Chrome yet because with the generated MAP SSL Cert, Chrome won’t let me open the page (Not your fault). If you have any ideas on that, I am open to listening because I like to test sites with all browsers. If the question is just totally out of scope I understand.
Yes, we really can’t do anything about the MAMP vs. Chrome SSL problem… but as I said, it works fine with localwp (and its certificate). I mark the post as solved. Get back to me if there is anything else.
I will say that I was able to finally use all the browsers after I overcame using the locally generated certificates in the way necessary for use with MAMP localhost - finally.
Now comparing how that is accomplished with MAMP compared to Flywheel Local, Local is a MAJOR pain to accomplish this compared to MAMP.
I guess if you get it “free” then you have to be willing to go through this kind of thing. I believe the “free” version of MAMP may have the same capability but you get ONE site at a time. For a site developer this does not really make sense
If you count your time and the flexibility of MAMP in a ton of area compared to Local, MAMP in my opinion is worth the money for the Pro version.
Anyone else trying to tackle this issue be advised.
I did a zoom meetup with the Local developers and gave my input. I don’t think my concerns made much of an impact.
In my opinion, as I said before, MAMP is the better product. If you are developing as any level of business or you want to be able to learn and experience development beyond the “basics” and more than just wordpress and PHP, then MAMP is superior and worth the investment.
Thank you for all your help and patience as I got my head around what is necessary to make the Copy/Paste work across domains. Bricks is definitely doing it’s “part” but we need to manage the proclivities of the various browsers, how they handle self signed certificates and allow access to the site when using in a self signed localhost development environment. I feel like I have gained a lot of expertise having worked through this issue.
Same here. It doesn’t ruin my life but if it was working would save some time. I have the SSL, copy/paste on the same domain yet doesn’t work. I have the latest version 1.5.2
