Hi Eric,
Thank you very much for the report.

Unfortunately, I’m not able to reproduce the issue. Can you please disable all plugins and test if it works then?

Best regards,
timmse

Disabling all plugins does not fix the issue. I will send admin credentials via so you can investigate.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the login credentials.

I had no problem adding two weights

Maybe one of your font files is corrupted?

timmse

First of all…how were you able to upload .woff font files without FTP access? I’ve never been able to do that (it prevents their uploading because of security).

I tried removing your custom font, then adding it again, using the exact same font files that you uploaded (which we know are not corrupt). Still didn’t work. Here’s a recording of that:

Hi Eric,

I am sure I had this issue once before. It was because I added two/three weights at once. It worked for me by adding them individually. Add a weight, save it then add another and so on.

You may have already tried it, but if not worth a go.

Thanks…but adding just one variant didn’t work either :frowning:

Pulled in normally: [1.4beta] Eric Custom Fonts

OK, I’ve figured it out. In summary, the current UI is not totally intuitive, and while this could be mitigated by more thorough documentation, it doesn’t exist currently. Both could be improved.

First of all, it seems that it ONLY works if the font files are uploaded to the normal media location (/wp-content/uploads) during the custom font setup process. I had already uploaded my fonts to a different folder (/wp-content/uploads/font) and was entering the URL to each font directly into the field, and this does NOT work. One MUST click the Upload button, and upload the font, and this is the ONLY way it will work.

I did show the process I was using in the first video, so I am confused why you didn’t comment at that point that I was using a process that does not work.

Secondly, when I had tried to upload my font files using the normal upload process, I would click the first upload button (for the WOFF2 file), then drag in all files (WOFF2, WOFF, TTF) to the media uploader. Only the WOFF2 files remained, so I assumed that the other formats were rejected because of security (default WPO rules do not allow certain files, including font files). I did not realize that will only accept files of the type matching the field being uploaded for. This is not intuitive.

At very least, your documentation should state that the font files MUST be uploaded using the Upload button, and that only the font type for the specific field can be uploaded.

Hi Eric,

Well… you have shown how to click publish  Unfortunately, the video has no sound and in the text is also nothing about how you proceeded. Sorry that I have not paid attention to the path.

You can see that pretty well in the video: you can only select the files of the appropriate type.

Right, we should add that.
