1- The Attachment details section opens on existing images. This makes it impossible to access the images below it. It makes sense to open this section as a push so that access to the images is not a problem.
2- I think it would be much better for multi-select, like the default WordPress, if there was a Bulk select button that would enable multi-select by clicking on it. Because multi-select is not always possible. For example, multi-select does not work in image elements. Therefore, in places where multi-select is not possible, its button is hidden. This behavior will also be complementary to the next one I will explain.
3- There are two rows at the bottom of the Media library that further limit the content of the Media library. I think it would be better to swap the Showing 1–39 of 39 and the selected item counter. Instead, the item counter row appears with the images of the selected items when the Bulk select button is enabled, as in the previous point.
Also, if you agree, showing the Attachment details window when bulk select is enabled doesn’t help. Am I right?
4- Active filters in the Media library are not prominent and are visually similar to other filters. It would be nice if active filters were distinguished from the others, as in the screenshot below.
Currently, you can use a CMD/CTRL key press to bulk-select items (e.g. for a gallery element or when bulk-editing items), or use the checkboxes. I don’t quite understand what the button would change about that—especially since, in an image element, you’re assuming that you can only select ONE item, right? Also, there isn’t a “bulk select” checkbox anyway, and selecting with CMD/CTRL doesn’t work either
My personal opinion: with infinite scroll, we could get rid of the entire pagination row
The attachment details do not appear if you use the checkboxes or hold down CMD/CTRL on the first image. If you click an item, we don’t yet know you intend to select multiple items in the next step. In that case (more than one item selected), however, it would make sense to hide the details window because it serves no further purpose.
We’ve addressed this in Bricks 2.4-rc (release candidate), now available for manual download from your Bricks account.
The Media Browser now highlights active filters, hides attachment details when multiple items are selected, and keeps the active item accessible. Browsers for posts, templates, and components can also load more items with infinite scroll instead of a pagination row.
Please read the changelog entry before testing, and let us know if you experience any issues. Release candidates are not recommended for production sites.
