SOLVED: Adding Button-Element on top of Standard-Text will not show up on canvas

Direct follow up on the last bug report: Pasting Standard-Text-Element on Divider-Element issue - Bugs - Bricks Community Forum (bricksbuilder.io)

Adding Button-Element on top of Standard-Text will not show up on canvas. Reloading the entire tab will show the expected outcome.

Hi,
Thanks so much for your report!

Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the issue. Have you found a way where the problem is reproducible (every time)?

Best regards,
timmse

I’m on it… will reply again if I find a way

Here I found an other way to get the same output but unfortunately not with the button. This Jam-Video demonstrates another issue when copy and pasting something in the header-element and continuing from there.

The issue with adding the button was unique because it just happened out of the blue by adding the element…

Presumably the problem is also caching related… I can’t reproduce it either: Bird Eats Bug

Duplicating works fine. But adding an element on it won’t. Can you confirm that?

I disabled litespeed cache and the issue persists

Nope, unfortunately not: Bird Eats Bug

Btw., what you can try as well is a different Browser. I see you’re using Edge - please give it a try in Chrome or Firefox. Maybe it’s Edge related

I think I found the root cause of this problem!! Its seems to be keyborad shortcut related. You are selecting with the mouse. I also have no issues when adding and duplicating with the mouse. All issues appear to be on the keyboard related workflow. If you follow this step by step procedure it should be reproduceable for you also:

  1. SHIFT + CMD + E > Add Heading with TAP and ENTER
  2. Click on the Heading with mouse and select all
  3. CMD + V paste any text from somewhere else
  4. SHIFT + CMD + D Duplicate that Heading
  5. SHIFT + CMD + E search for button > TAB then ENTER to select and add the Button Element

I think a lot of the issues I experienced during my last big project started with the first ghost-element. after that things started to get messy. similar at the end of the video where the “delete-all” button had no effect and many other things started to add up.

If this procedure does not lead to a ghost element on your side, then we can close this bug and also the duplicate heading bug posting. I will wait to get the other bugs you were able to reproduce to be fixed. And also test on other machines.

thanks for your patience.

Hey,
Now it works with the steps! Thanks

As a rule, it is minimal differences that turn a bug into a bug. But that’s exactly what we need to know so that we can fix them.

timmse

Thanks for staying with me  I feel relieved

Yes, next time I will make sure the exact steps are listed. It’s the first time I’m actively contributing to a software to find and report bugs. I’m sure I will be more precise over time  thanks for your patience!

best regards
