Query loop: copy & paste query settings between elements

Problem

Setting up a query loop that’s similar to an existing one means configuring every option from scratch: type, post type, order, taxonomy/meta queries etc. Many times I only need to change one or two settings.

Current workaround

Save the query as a global query, select it on the other element, then Disconnect it. That works, but it takes several steps and leaves a global query in the Query Manager that was never meant to be global.

Suggestion

Copy & paste for query settings, the same way it already works for conditions and interactions:

  • right-click on an element → Copy query / Paste query
  • or copy/paste icons next to the global query icon in the query control

The pasted query becomes a regular local query that can be adjusted freely. Ideally this also works across pages and templates, like copying styles does.

Another use case

Rolling out a new loop design (e.g. a redesigned product card) step by step across a site. Every existing loop has its own query, so for each instance I have to rebuild the query in the new design by hand before I can swap it in.

Global queries don’t help here: the existing queries are local and usually differ slightly (category, posts per page, order).

With copy & paste, it would be: copy the query from the old loop, paste it into the new design, delete the old one.
