As I create my section I am saving them as templates. Some of the templates when I preview them look exactly as the template should look. Others when I preview are broken. Worse is that when i import the template it imports with the images broken.
Any else experience this or able to shed light on what’s wrong?
I never seen a builder that makes perfect export/import they all buggy 
that is why I ignore using any export/import.
my recommendation is to save the section as just copy/pastable json code.
create a library for yourself and you can reuse or transfer your sections again and again.

Yes, good suggestion but I am hoping to save as a template so that when I have to update the template I just do it in once place and the update will apply to all the pages with the section on it.

btw for your problem just create a jam.dev recording and show the bug. only way for mods to see the bug or create a report for it.
You can solve this problem by re-saving your template. After saving a section as a template, go to the saved template, make a small change (such as modifying some text), then undo your changes and save the template again. This should resolve the issue.
