I’m currently having good luck with Bricks, but I’m having extreme layout issues due to default bricks container settings. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve jumped into this stuff, so its quite possible I’m doing something else wrong… I swear the grids/flexboxes were having extreme issues, however…
All of my problems are solved if I remove a default width of 1100px from the following CSS selector: .brxe-container… or at least if I could update it to something else. I don’t see these default options in classes/variable manager. What’s the best way to handle this kind of update to the default values? These values are also never shown in the front-end as being inherited by anything?
I have ACSS as the only plugin to interact with Bricks (just in case). That may be an issue, but I’m afraid disabling it for further testing will cause some major issues and break things. =[
The naming schema gives me the impression this isn’t anything that some theme or import messed with, but that could also be a culprit I suppose.
Any help would be greatly appreciated for a super rusty goober getting back into stuff. Thanks!
Since you mentioned you’re using ACSS, make sure the page width in Bricks and the ACSS settings match. That should clear up the container issues. If you prefer video, Kevin Gray has a good walkthrough on YouTube (just note the UI looks a bit different now because the video is from an older version).
Also, when I used ACSS in the past, I had to set the same page width in both ACSS and the Bricks theme settings. I’m not using ACSS anymore, so I’m not 100% sure if anything has changed recently, but that was the fix back then.
Soz, I didn’t find that previous post which does seem to be the exact same issue.
Overall I did start with a staging site to double-check and ACSS doesn’t appear to have any effect with the common width setup.
Overall, I just added some sitewide CSS which seemed to be just fine for now.
When I went to check on the default settings under Manage ⛯ ❯ Theme Styles ❯ Elements there was the option to update it along with all the other default elements, but it still has a non-cancelable default value regardless.
Fortunately, with my limited testing changing it under the Theme Styles I believe stops competing CSS and has a location to update all common settings so I don’t have to hunt down CSS code. Perfect!
If you scroll a bit further down you can find where some elements have default values that you can update: Manage ⛯ ❯ Theme Styles ❯ Elements
