Youtube video in the background does not play in the mobile version.
How do we make it autoplay in the mobile version automatically? video
[Please describe this bug in as much detail as possible so we can replicate & debug this bug]
“Warning: To prevent unsolicited downloads over cellular networks at the user’s expense, embedded media cannot be played automatically in Safari on iOS — the user always initiates playback.”
Due to this restriction, functions and parameters such as autoplay, playVideo(), loadVideoById() won’t work in all mobile environments.
Accordingly, it is not a bug and we have no influence on it. But as said: Vimeo and local mp4 should work, provided the user has enough battery left - in low power mode the videos do not play - but we can’t do anything about that either.
yes im been having this issue in an android tv box, im not sure if google chrome does this do to is mobile device but im not sure, because if i switch the browser to act as a desktop version then i play youtube videos, if is in the mobile mode it will not autoplay but im not sure if is a bug on bricks or is the browser, i forgot to mention, that the youtube videos are not caching into android devices, i dont know if is part of youtube stuped restriction.
Yes, this issue was already imposed by browsers years ago to lower data consumption on mobile phones. indeed the videos do not play automatically if there is no interaction from the user.
Just a quick note for the future: No video will play automatically if the phone is in “low power” mode, this is a feature. This happens on iOS, android not confirmed,
