NO BUG: The clear button in live search does not close the keyboard

Hello,

If mobile users search for a term and then click the clear button, the mobile keyboard does not close and remains open. This can often hurt the user experience.

Hi @Victor1999,

I see what you mean, but do you have a link to “best practices” article or something? Because it may be subjective because if I click “clear”, I may just want to type something else.

For example, I checked one of the largest e-commerce sites in our country (https://www.mimovrste.com/) and it behaves the same. I can search for something, but when I click “clear”, the keyboard will stay open.

I, personally, think it’s ok this way. But I’m open to hearing other opinions.

Best regards,
Matej

Have to agree with @matej the ONLY reason I ever click a clear button is to type something new in its place. X/reset/Clear is quicker than backspacing or selecting and deleting.
So please keep as it is.

Hi,

I agree with Matej. If you also view the Google search box on mobile, the clear button only clears the typed phrase. But the keyboard is open and ready to type for the next phrase.

Incidentally, this is what helps improve the user experience.

Okay, thanks for everyone’s input. I’m giving up on this bug report

Thank you, guys, for your opinions! I sincerely appreciate it.
I’ll mark the topic as no-bug

Thanks all,
Matej
