NO BUG: Template slugs don't update

Browser: Chrome 126
OS: macOS

Hi there !

I started working on a website project, with the French language selected in the Wordpress settings (my native language).

I also added Bricks templates (including Bricks Woocommerce templates) while still on the French settings, but after a while I decided to change the project to an English only website, so I started changing the pages slugs manually (Please note that I don’t use any translation plugin whatsoever)

The problem is this : changing the template slug don’t update the associated pages slugs.
Here’s an example, you’ve got the Woocommerce Checkout template :
https://www.spacedealerz.com/template/order/

The slug of the template is updated, no problem. But if I want to access the associated page… :
https://www.spacedealerz.com/order/

The page doesn’t exist ! The page is still registered in French :
https://www.spacedealerz.com/commander/

(Also, don’t know if it’s a feature or a bug, but changing a not-woocommerce template slug (e.g. Header) and accessing the old one make a redirection to the actual slug…)

Do you have a solution to this ? Or a topic who solved it ? (Didn’t find anybody with the exact same problem for now)

Thanks in advance for your help !

Nico

(PS : to recreate the bug, you may have to add some product the the cart, access this page to do it quickly : Boutique – Space Dealerz )

PPS : Sorry, I forgot to add that when I change the language of the project, I actually changed the language in the Wordpress Settings, and also in my Admin User account, just to be sure. It may be obvious to you, but I wanted to make sure to clarify this.

Hey @Nico,

just a quick question, before I start investigating. Did you resaved the permalinks again, after changing the slugs?

And on the order page, you change the slud g from commander to order, right?

Best regards,
M

Yep, that’s what I did.

What do you mean by “resaved the permalinks again” ?
Do I need to do something to actually change the slugs, even after updating the template slug itself ?

Thanks

Try refreshing permalinks, usually these kind of unexpected behaviors related to url are resolved by doing that.

Go to yoursite.com/wp-admin , then in the menu on the left go to Settings > Permalinks page.
Scroll to bottom and click “Save Changes”.

Hope it helps.

Yeah, just like @tresorama mentioned.
You don’t even need to change anything, just click Save Changes button.

Best regards,
M

Thanks for your help, I think a got it solved, but one think is still off :

Permalinks don’t update in the buttons of my minicart, but it worked when looking the website in Chrome private navigation… I cleared the chrome cache thinking it would be the solution, but that’s not the case… Any advice on this ?

Thank you

Hi,

that sounds like a caching. How does it behave if you try in another browser?

Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce this issue locally. Would you be so kind as to send temporary login credentials and a link to this thread to help@bricksbuilder.io using the email address you used during the purchase? Then we can take a further look into it.

Thank you and best regards,
M

Hi,

It’s working as intended in other browsers. Ok, i’ll send the temp login.

Thanks again

Then it’s probably caching, but yeah, feel free to send the page URL and login info, then I can take a look from my browser also.
Also, just to make sure, please describe the steps you take to reproduce the error in Chrome, so I will be able to replicate them.

Best regards,
M

Well, I think it won’t be necessary : I closed et reopened Chrome and now it seems to be working fine !

Thanks for your help and patience

No worries. I thought that it was something like this. It was caching after all.

I marked the @tresorama post as a solution and this thread as NO BUG.

Best regards,
M
