NO BUG: Template conditions show as default entire website even when not set

Browser: Firefox 116
OS: Linux
URL: Link to a page that illustrates this issue
Video: Short screen recording that illustrates this issue (free tool: jam.dev)

I have been testing different headers so have a few.
If I look at the Bricks Template list they are all displayed as Default: Entire website even though I have cleared the Template conditions on all but one.

This doesn’t seem to change the header template that is actually used ( the correct one ) but it does make it very difficult to see whats active from the Templates list.

Ok found that I needed to set the Bricks Setting - Templates - Disable default templates to enabled.

Only then will the actual conditions apply.

Hi Alan,
Thanks so much for your report!

Glad you already figured out how to solve your problem.

The header and footer are displayed by default on the whole website, so no condition is necessary. If you want to influence this behavior, you can use the setting you mentioned.

PS: It’s a good practice to set the post status of the not used templates to draft - this saves one or the other confusing moment, and you can see at first sight which templates are in use and which are not

Best regards,
timmse

Thanks,
I’d always ignored the Templates tab in Bricks settings as thought there was nothing of interest to me there. Hadn’t connected the Default Templates with the Header/Footer just assumed it meant the lists of community templates etc.
Never mind, added the Enable that setting to my initial install checklist now.

Usually I create multiple headers and assign them to single pages for testing. Assumed that just removing the condition would be enough - clearly leads to confusion.

Thanks
Alan
