NO BUG: Read more tag of product description editor not working with Bricks product content element

Like the topics says. The default WP / WC editor offers a “Read more” tag to be able to toggle/hide part of the product description. Its seems it isn’t recognized at all because there is not html code rendered for the section that should be hidden. Or in other words the html code with or without it doesn’t change and the function is not available in the front end. Maybe I’m missing something?

Hi @Mike8040 ,

I think “Read more” tag is not meant for a toggle/hide certain text in WordPress.

It’s more related to excerpt purposes in archives.

You could switch to WP default theme to check the functionality.

Äh??? Its a bug. Why was the thread state changed without communicating of my findings? Of course I use the default WP editor for product descriptions. And yes, I did several tests. It works with Elementor and it works with Flatsome Theme. You links show exactly this what should happen but doesn’t with Bricks. You insert the tag for instance with Elementor and get a clickable text to show the rest of text. The read more tag will be ignored with Bricks. It is just not there in the plain html code. This is a bug or a some conflict with Bricks product description element.

Hi @Mike8040 ,

I apologize for marking it as “NO BUG” without consulting you first. Upon thorough investigation, I’ve determined that the issue in Bricks is not a bug.

Regarding the transformation of the read more tag into a toggle button, it appears to be a unique feature implemented by Elementor or the Flatsome Theme.

This functionality may not be replicated in default WordPress themes such as Twenty Twenty-X, Storefront, or the Hello Elementor theme (without the Elementor plugin). Notably, archive pages and the Shop page do not display post content, and on the Single Product page, the read more tag is disregarded.

I came across a related thread on WordPress.org which discusses the read more tag not functioning by default : Read more tag not working in woocommerce by default in product single page | WordPress.org

Please let me know if there are any other crucial details I may have overlooked.
