This used to work before, but some recent release of Bricks disabled the ability for Rank Math to automatically add rel=“follow” to all external links. I’ve confirmed with the Rank Math team that the bug is not with their product, and indeed it works fine with non-Bricks (Gutenberg) content.
As far as we know, this RankMath feature has never been supported (except with Gutenberg content), so it would be interesting to know which version you refer to.
We have a RankMath compatibility task on the to-do list, which aims to make the Bricks content available to RankMath. However, this is only associated with considerable performance losses, so we have refrained from implementing it in its current state.
However, we are considering implementing the desired feature natively.
I used to work (unless I’m going insane) but I don’t know what version it worked with. I’ve used Rank Math for years, and I stopped checking links until just recently because it always worked. What I do know if that it definitely does not work now. It’s really frustrating because now I’m faced with manually adding nofollow attributes to all external links across dozens of sites I’ve built, or find some other solution (and all other plugins I’ve tried do no t work with Bricks either).
I can’t find an archived task related to this Rankmath setting, and I have randomly tested various versions down to 1.6; it didn’t work with any of them.
Accordingly, I still don’t know how it can happen that it supposedly used to work. If you find out with which version, please let me know.
PS: We will implement the mentioned native setting (nofollow for external links) in one of the next versions.
OK, I must be dreaming about it working earlier. I do know 100% that it works in Oxygen and Elementor—the 2 platforms I used before Bricks. Very much looking forward to the release that provides compatibility.
This report has absolutely nothing to do with the Bricks attributes, but refers solely to a RankMath setting. Accordingly, everything is fine in your case. If you set nofollow, nofollow is output.
