NO BUG: Popup close on Backdrop & ESC doesn't work

I’ve created a popup and it doesn’t close when I click on Backdrop or when I hit ESC. This bug existed in the past. Has it reappeared again?

Hi @Barnabas ,

Please share a link to your page and some screenshots of your setup so we can take a closer look.

Hello @itchycode,

I have a popup template on this page: https://essexmonastery.com/ which appears after pressing the “Free ebook” button that is placed on the right hand side of the screen. The popup is set to close with the default way -click on Backdrop & ESC key. I tried the other Close on options but they are not working either.

Kind regards,
Barnabas

Hi @Barnabas ,

Thanks for the link.

Based on my inspection as a visitor, the popup 74990 rendered twice on the page for an unknown reason.

Did you try deactivating all plugins to check if the issue resolved?

Otherwise, please send admin credentials to help@bricksbuilder.io and include this forum thread URL as a reference. I will check on it.

Hi @itchycode,

I had set conditions on the template to display on the “Entire website”. I removed that condition now and the popup displays correctly and it closes as expected when I click on the backdrop or pressing the ESC button. Is it normal that the popup appears when it has no conditions set?

Another popup on the same site, is used for the Search popup. The Search popup has condition to display on Entire website. If I remove the condition like I did with my other popup then it doesn’t get triggered at all when I click the search icon. So, that popup requires the condition in order to function.

Do you understand why there’s difference between the two?

Hi @Barnabas ,

Maybe you manually insert the Popup via template element? Or maybe some shortcode? Or maybe certain plugins are causing that?

By default, a pop-up template without a condition will not be rendered.

Jenn

Hi @itchycode ,

I had inserted the Popup with a template element and completely forgot about. I got really confused here. So much versatility for rendering a popup
