NO BUG: Pclzip_err_bad_format

I constantly get “The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Invalid archive structure” when I try to upload Bricks to a new website. This has happened on several builds so far.

I have increased upload size, memory, etc. I have also tried re-zipping the files.

I don’t know what else to try.

Please advise.

Hi Michael,
Thanks so much for your report!

Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the issue and we don’t have any other reports about it.
Searching for the error on Google, there are several reasons for it:

cURL not configured

Corrupted Backups (WP Vivid, Updraft, …)
https://docs.wpvivid.com/pclzip_err_bad_format-10-invalid-archive-structure.html

Also, please make sure all system requirements are fulfilled.

Best regards,
timmse

I’ve also been getting this error on both my Wordpress sites (one on Hosting.com, one on Cloudways).

Every other theme and plugin works fine.

Speaking with Claude I’m increasing memory limit to 256M, executing time to 300, and restarting PHP-FM, hopefully fixes… NOPE :frowning: Given every other plugin works, other themes install OK, there must be something unique about Bricks triggering this. Downloading the update manually works but I can’t keep doing that.

Extremely vanilla site. Just 5 plugins (Cloudways Site Manager, Regenerate Thumbnails, SEO Framework, Updraft Plus, Converter for Media).

@timmse - I suspect many people are getting this, but ignoring it until it becomes a real problem. I’ve been doing that for a few months now.

Hi Simon,
This thread is three years old, and unfortunately we haven’t received any feedback from the thread starter…

It would be great if you could send us the login credentials for a staging/test environment where the issue occurs so we can test it safely (help@bricksbuilder.io). Please also include a link to this thread.

Does the error message only appear for you during the automatic update? It seems the original poster was the other way around.

Ah, figured it out. It was the licence! I’d copied/pasted an old cancelled licence code insstead of the latest one, so it must have been downloading a HTML error page instead of the zip.

Leaving this here in case anyone else gets in the future.
