NO BUG: Nav nestable breaks in backend when dropdown content from wordpress nav menus

Browser: Any
OS: macOS

I have the following nav nestable menu:

The structure is as follows with each dropdown’s content provided by a wordpress nav menu:

The menu has been fine for over a year during which time it hasn’t been edited. Today I made a simple change and the menu display now breaks on the backend when editing any page. It breaks to the left side after the About dropdown menu:

The menu displays fine however on the frontend and when editing the header template.

Inspecting the html when editing a page I can see that Bricks is incorrectly closing the entire nav menu after the first wordpress nav menu resulting in all subsequent li menu items to not be in a nav > ul structure:

Thinking this may have been a glitch I removed all the wordpress nav menus and then added them back and saved the header. The menu then displayed OK when editing a page. However when I then edited the menu again it broke in the same fashion.

I then removed the wordpress nav menu from the About dropdown and created the content as individual text links. This resulted in the menu then breaking after the next dropdown where the content is a wordpress nav menu:

I don’t know which version has caused this as I haven’t edited the menu for so long.

Hi @simon,

I’ve just tested this, but I can’t replicate the issue. I’ve added Nav Nestable, and inside I’ve added the dropdown element. Inside Dropdown content, I’ve added Nav menu. All is working.

So, if possible, can you record a video of your setup, so I can follow your steps? And if that will not help, you can send temporary login credentials to your website and a link to this thread to help@bricksbuilder.io using the email address you used during the purchase, so we can take a look?

Thanks,
Matej

Hi @Matej,

I’ve sent an email with login details as its easier for you to look at it directly.

Thanks

Hi @Matej,

I did some more testing by creating a new wordpress local install with just Bricks and created a quick menu structure similar to what I have now and there were no issues.

So I then disabled on the staging site all plugins and removed all classes from the site menu which made no difference. Finally I removed all the wordpress nav menus and then saved the change (which I did not do before) and then put all the wordpress nav menus back and the menu is now OK.

So all I can think is there was a stored glitch which when I saved the menu without any wordpress nav menus was removed clearing the way for the menu to work again when the nav menus were added back.

I’ll keep an eye on it and reopen if it happens again.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

thank you for your report. I’ll mark the topic as no-bug, since it’s not a Bricks bug, and I’ll mark your response as a solution - in case somebody got the same issue.

If it will happen again, please let me know.

Thanks,
Matej
