NO BUG: Instagram Feed Broken

Meta announced that the Basic Display API is no longer supported, and the Instagram Graph API should be used starting from December 4, 2024. My Instagram feed isn’t working anymore as Bricks only supports the Basic Display API.

When can we expect a fix for this?

Hi,

thank you for getting in touch about this. As I see in our internal task tracker, it’s currently in review, so that means that we only need to test it.

Once we release it, we will update this topic.

Best regards,
Matej

Great news! Thanks for updating.

@matejmohar will this update be available soon?

My Instagram feed is working for me on Bricks 1.11.1.1 using the new “Instagram API with Instagram Login” Meta released. I put the new access token in Bricks > Settings > API keys > Instagram Access Token and my feed is loading with no issues.

@aaronhare I’m not sure where to find the new Instagram API and how to set it up. Is there an article or video, where I can learn more about it?

Hi everyone,

@aaronhare is correct:

Our current implementation should already work with the new “Instagram API” out of the box. But the steps to retrieve an access token are now different, since Meta deprecated the Basic Display API (https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/2024/09/04/update-on-instagram-basic-display-api/).

We will update our academy article (How to get your Instagram Access Token – Bricks Academy) with the revised instructions. In the meantime, you can follow steps 1-7 here to get a new access token: Create an app - Instagram Platform - Documentation - Meta for Developers. After getting the new access token, you can add it to Bricks settings > API Keys > Instagram Access Token.

Yes, works for me too now!
But what a pain in the ass this Meta setup process is!

Agreed, the process Meta has set up needs work. I was working on a video tutorial, but I was having a bug where I couldn’t generate a token

Recently, my IG feed stopped working for my site too. I had to retain the IG’s API from Meta. Now it works perfectly.

Yes, they’ve unfortunately made it more complicated
