NO BUG: Imported variables from JSON file not set on front-end

Browser: Any
OS: macOS

I have just set up a brand new localhost install of wordpress and Bricks. I have imported a JSON file of variables exported from another Bricks installation. All the variables are visible in the Bricks variables manager with their values and I can select the variables in element fields when I am setting up the theme styles:

I can also see the variables when I inspect the page on the front-end. However, the variables values are not being used as they are not set:

When I look at what is being inherited from :root, none of the imported variables are there.

OK, what I have just tried was manually creating a new variable and low and behold all the imported variables suddenly appeared on the front-end.
Surely you don’t need to manually create a variable before importing as that does not make sense.

Hi Simon,
Thanks so much for your report!

Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the issue (I tried it twice). Would you please test it again and document every single step so we can reproduce the problem if necessary?

Best regards,
timmse

Hi Stefan,
I spun up another local install of wordpress and couldn’t reproduce this so putting it down to a one-off glitch.

Ok, cool! Please let me know if it happens again - preferably with reproducible steps :v:
