NO BUG: Icon Manager Button Causes Long Loading Times/Temporary Freeze

Browser: Chrome 138.0.7204.184
OS: Windows

I’m experiencing a performance issue with the Icon Manager functionality in the Bricks editor.

Issue Description: When clicking the Icon Manager button in the Bricks editor, the interface becomes unresponsive for an extended period (around 30 seconds) before the Icon Manager finally opens. Sometimes it appears to freeze completely.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Bricks editor on any page/post
  2. Click on the Icon Manager button
  3. Editor becomes unresponsive for 20-30+ seconds
  4. Icon Manager eventually opens (sometimes), or remains frozen

Expected Behavior: Icon Manager should open quickly and smoothly without causing editor delays.

Actual Behavior:

  • Editor becomes unresponsive for 20-30+ seconds after clicking Icon Manager
  • Sometimes the manager eventually opens after the delay
  • Other times the editor remains frozen and requires page refresh

Environment Details:

  • Bricks Version: 2.0.1
  • WordPress Version: 6.8.2
  • PHP Version:8.2.28

Questions:

  • Could this be related to the number of available icons being loaded?
  • Are there any optimization settings for the Icon Manager?
  • Has anyone else experienced similar loading delays?

Any suggestions for improving Icon Manager performance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi @yamaguchi,

this is not happening on my local install. Icon manager opens instantly here, so something else is going on with your setup. Can you try to disable all plugins, custom scripts, and custom icons, if you have any?
That way, we can see if this solves the issue.

Please let me know.
Matej

I disabled the plugins, and the issue was resolved.
It seems there was a conflict with loading icon fonts.
Thank you for your advice!

Hi @yamaguchi,

ok, this is perfect. Now you need to figure out which plugin/custom script was causing the issue and adjust it accordingly.

I’ll mark the topic as no-bug for now.

Best regards,
Matej
