NO BUG: Enhanced Ordering Options not supporting multiple values for Terms?

Not sure if this is a bug, I seem to remember multi-level ordering in queries only supporting posts, but I can’t find anything about that on the Query Academy page (Query Loop – Bricks Academy)

So, I’ve got a query loop for a custom term, and I want to order it by a meta query, then by name. Doing them separately works just fine, but I can’t seem to combine them (the terms I input into the bar never turn to “button” versions like they do when setting order for posts.)

Running v2.1

Hi @FilWi,

as far as I know, the orderBy for terms does not support the same parameters as orderBy for posts. That’s why it’s not available and not a bug.

Best regards,
Matej

Thanks for the reply; would it be possible to add it as a feature request?

It would be useful when creating lists of terms and their contents based on multiple criteria.

HI @FilWi,

by default, WP_Term_Query does not support sorting by multiple values. You can see in the official docs that order and orderby expect a string, not array , like in the case of WP_Query class.
