NO BUG: Default Button styles aren't used by default

Browser: Firefox

Video: mp4-5zjh1g4mi8ynht4ov3b97xck2jmr.mp4 - Google Drive

When adding a button to a page, the default button style doesn’t match the “default” styles in the theme settings. Instead, the default button style matches the “primary” button styles set in the theme settings. Full explanation in video linked above.

I think this is similar to the issue described here: WAIT: Button theme/ global settings (but I don’t think the responses understood the bug that the original poster was trying to articulate).

Hi Alex,
Thanks so much for your report!

Please make the video publicly accessible. Thank you
However, without watching the video: The pre-selected style of a button is “primary”. Resetting the style to “none” will bring up the “default” style from the theme styles.

timmse

Sorry about that. The video should be available now: https://drive.google.com/file/d/18DMgFDHDf6tpxEqSfZjhfCtrM_cn5qUx/view?usp=drive_link

Your response describes what I’m experiencing, which is exactly the bug I was reporting.

In a more traditional bug report format:

Expected behavior: Default button uses default styles

Actual behavior: Default button uses “Primary” styles

Why are the default styles named “default” if they aren’t used by default?

Is there a way to filter the pre-selected button style using code so that the default behavior is to use the default styles?

Thanks!

Ok, but this is not a bug because the primary style has always been the pre-selected setting of the button. The “default” style, for example, has no background color by default, i.e. the button would not be recognizable as such if the preset setting were “none” or default (unless you create a theme style and define the “default”).

Because they are the default unless the button has a style such as “primary”, “secondary”, etc.

No, not that I’m aware of, but you could create your own element without any preselected style.

Best,
timmse
