Clicking on a free area of off-canvas will cause the off-canvas to close. How can I prevent this? I want the off-canvas to close only by clicking on the toggle button. Or is this a bug?

With “free area” you mean the backdrop, right? This is expected behavior. Clicking on the free area of the actual Offcanvas (content) nothing closes for me (see demo).
