NO BUG: Builder lag & frontend CSS loading issues

Browser: Chrome 135.0.7049.85
OS: Windows

If anyone is experiencing crazy lag in the builder, or styling not being applied on initial page load - it’s not a Bricks problem. It seems that Chromium browser users are facing big issues with sites being laggy in general, see here, and here, and other strange loading issues for the past couple of months - although mine only started around a week ago after a Chrome update.

I tried to disable extensions as others recommended, but it only helped a little.

Bricks has become almost unusable in Chrome, for me at least, when it comes to more complex sites, making the builder freeze and become extremely laggy. Even on some smaller site, you can feel to difference.

Even when loading pages on the frontend, the styling won’t be applied for a split second while the DOM is still loading.

I switched to Firefox for testing, and there’s ZERO issues inside the builder, or on the frontend.

Hi @ChrisBeattie,

thanks for the information, I’m sure it will be useful if somebody is searching about it. I’ll keep it here, but I’ll mark the topic as no bug because the lag in question it’s not a Bricks bug (as you already noticed)

Thanks,
Matej

Hi @Matej

Yes that was my intention, just incase others were facing the same issue and thought it was a Bricks problem.

I’m having the same issue. Weird loading on the front end, resulting in major FOUC. Is it defintely a Chrome thing? And if so, what do we do?

The only thing I can recommend is switching to Firefox until chrome fixes their issue.
