The problem is solved, but I would like to post it here too, because maybe someone else will run into the error and maybe the developers will incorporate it into the code.
Context: Woocommerce, 31 products, pagination. In the desktop version, 3 products are displayed per row per page, a total of 6 products per page. When pagination, 6 pages are visible. This is OK.
Symptom:
Pages 1-3 are paginated four times, pages 4-6 are 404 errors. Annoying error.
Research:
I tried to find a direct solution here on the forum, on other Woocommerce forums. There was none.
But I found an interesting comment by Olio.

Olio’s suggestion didn’t help either. But then I remembered something else. On the WordPress Appearance > Customize page, in the WooCommerce section, there is also a number of products per row and a number of products per page setting. Here I set the values to 3 and 6 respectively. Click the Publish button and the symptom is gone!
