I’m looking at building my first directory site. A lot of the directory plugins have membership built-in so I’m not too worried about that, but it seems like they’re all not compatible with Bricks or they rely on shortcodes, which means very limited styling and customisation.
What’s the best directory plugin to use with Bricks? Something that allows for lots of visual customisability?
Do I even need a plugin? The client wants membership tiers where top membership lets you highlight your listing. I’ve only done little brochure sits and ecomm so this is all really new.
I know Bricks has recently introduced search filters but I haven’t used it. Are you saying I can created multi-filtered search for the directory listings just with bricks?
Can I create a front-end member login and dashboard for them to edit their listings/profile info with Bricks?
This seems like so much new stuff to learn for a client with a very limited budget and rush timeline (10 days), I’m almost thinking of just using a directory plugin to handle of it and building on Elementor.
yes you can build the directory structure with bricks easily it is just couple days work
BUT membership or payment or user roles or frontend posting are bit tricky. just use plugins for posting, membership, roles and payment stuff. if you are not sure no need to take risk you can practice more and learn more later and eliminate plugins after you learn. but for now just solve the problem and create solution as simple as possible for you to implement.
I work with Memberstack - we’re a tool for adding memberships and payments to your site. We’ve been leaders in the Webflow space for a while now, and we’ve just recently released our WordPress membership plugin
One of our top priorities is flexibility with visual customization - and, I’m happy to say that with our Bricks add-on, you can build pretty much any membership UI you can design - natively in Bricks, no shortcodes needed.
Since we’re just getting into the WordPress space now, we don’t have any live tutorials on how to build something like this with WordPress - but, we’re happy to help you figure everything out if you want to join our new WordPress Slack Community.
