IMPLEMENTED: Image is not selected at [Insert Media] screen

[Please describe this bug in as much detail as possible so we can replicate & debug this bug]
Usually [WP native, Elementor, Gutenburg… almost every builder] after insert an image, click the image, [Insert Media] would popup, the inserted image would be selected.
User would know which image was inserted, user could do/edit the following:
Edit Image
Delete permanently
Alt Text
Title
Caption
Description
Copy URL to clipboard
…
But in bricks, the previous inserted image/media would not be selected.
How could user find the previous inserted image? By search? User has no place to copy the image file name either.
I’m curious why no user has reported this inconvenience for so long.

Hi tudou,
Thanks so much for your report!

Unfortunately, I don’t understand the issue. Would you be so kind as to provide a screencast using https://jam.dev showing and explaining what’s happening and what you’re expecting?

Best regards,
timmse

Sure, I made a screen recording:

Suppose you have uploaded an image, and after a few months, you want to replace and delete the old image, or edit its Alt text. After clicking on the image to enter the [Insert Media] pop-up window, the image is not selected, making it difficult to find which image it is.

I have the same problem and actually reported it already a while ago: Pre-select attachment image when opening the media modal, but I probably wasn’t able to describe it properly and the issue hasn’t got much attention (also the screecast video seems to be gone).

As I mentioned in my thread, I had the same issue with Elementor, which they were able to resolve (issue is here: Show Name of the Image / Background Image · Issue #7937 · elementor/elementor · GitHub). Maybe their solution could help you too (solution is here: Tweak: Set pre-selected attachment when opening the media modal by shilo-ey · Pull Request #7922 · elementor/elementor · GitHub).

Hope this helps and you’ll be able to find a solution. Thanks.

Hey tudou,
Thanks so much for the video (and to Petr for the improvement task)! I finally understand what this is all about. I discussed this improvement with the team and created an improvement task for it, since it isn’t a bug, as this functionality has never been implemented.

I’ll update both threads as soon as we’ve added this enhancement.

Hi guys,
We’ve added this improvement in Bricks 1.9.8, now available as a one-click update in your WordPress Dashboard.

Changelog: Bricks 1.9.8 Changelog – Bricks

Please let us know if you are still experiencing issues.

Best regards,
timmse
