IMPEMENTED: Components experience

Hey guys, I have been testing components and wanted to point out 2 small improvements.

  1. When creating a component, it would be faster to have the small plus icon already present on the element and be able to create a property from the little popup. There would be “create property” and another popup would show creating the actual property, this would speed up the process of actually creating components and properties leading to a better UX.
  2. The second point is to hide or lower the opacity of already connected properties from the list when connecting properties.

The components are great, and I believe you will keep developing them further, let’s have a very solid and optimised workflow.

Hey @Dinophox,

thanks for testing the components and giving the feedback!

Now, about this, can you show a screenshot, and maybe place an arrow to the point, where you think it would be nice to have “plus” icon?

About the second recommendation: You are able to connect one property to multiple fields, so if we lower the opacity of the already connected ones, it would applied that you can’t connect it anymore.

Best regards,
Matej

Hi @Matej thanks for your reply!

When creating a new property, this is how I image it:

There are a few basic elements that could have the quick create and connect, such as:

  1. text block
  2. rich text block
  3. heading
  4. image
  5. text
  6. button
  7. video
  8. others…

As I’m not a developer, I don’t know if this is possible with other elements, but I think the basic elements will be the most used anyway.

This is how webflow does it, similar in the approach

I would keep the way it’s now, but add the Create and connect property as well, as it’s saving a few clicks.

I understand the second point and it makes sense.

Thanks,
Lukas

Hi,

thank you for your explanation! I get it now, and I’ve recorded it as an idea in our tracker  Having that would save few clicks for sure.

Thanks,
Matej

Hi @Dinophox,

We’ve implemented this feature (creating properties directly from controls) in Bricks 1.12, now available as a one-click download from your dashboard.

You can see the full changelog here: Bricks 1.12 Changelog – Bricks

Best regards,
Matej

Hey @Matej thanks for implementing that I noticed it when I read Thomas’ backlog on facebook, and it made my day! I believe that was a good call as it will make things faster to do, thanks!

Yep, it is. I use this way to add new properties almost all the time :metal:
