Getting templates to be editable on new page

RESOLVED. Thanks to the 2 very kind people that helped. See the screenshot below in reference to the helpful comment.

This is most likely a question I shouldn’t be asking, but… I created a template, when i add the template to a page and start to edit it’s appearance (change colors etc) on the page, it also changes the template itself. How do I stop that from happening? Is there a setting i have overlooked?

You can have templates (e.g. for an archive, for a single page) - you don’t copy these into a page… they shape the page content - usually provided by Wordpress.

You can have Global Templates. These are good for e.g. adverts, CTAs and things you want in many places on the site. You edit the global template, it changes everywhere at once. Easy for admin.

You can have ‘re-useable’ templates. Don’t save them as global. Copy and paste via the structure panel and they should be inserted and editable.

You can of course add global elements into re-useable templates and all sorts…

I " right clicked" and “Saved as Template”. The only way I know is to “insert” the template on a different page. I don’t see a “Copy & Paste” option. Would you explain a bit more, please?

As digismith said, if you saved as a template and then insert it somewhere, the changes will be reflected on every instance of the template across your site.

You can copy and paste elements using ctrl+c and ctrl+v, just like you were copying text in word  you can also right click an element and select copy and right click on another element to paste it there.

There are also copy all and paste all buttons at the top above the structure panel. So let’s say you have your template open in bricks, just click the copy all button, go to your page or wherever you want it and hit the paste all button.

Thank You, I found the Copy all & Paste All as shown in the screenshot. To be honest, I never saw those before and didn’t think to look there.

Thank You both for your helpfulness & guidance.
