Getting started w/ Bricks as a Webflow Developer

Hey everyone!

I’ve been getting into Bricks lately after almost 7 years of exclusively using Webflow, and it’s been awesome.

I just made a video with my coworker who’s also a Webflow expert - I basically showed him how to use Bricks for the first time as a complete beginner!

My question for anyone in here is, what did I miss?

What else would you show a Webflow developer who’s brand new to Bricks?

I’m hoping this can become a thread full of useful tips for people who have WF experience but are new to Bricks.

Thank you in advance!!

Hey @juliang welcome to the community!

You can check out interactions and conditions, there are pretty nice features also.

Did you miss any features that are available in Webflow but not in Bricks?

welcome welcome

answer to the youtube title is yes

motion.page+bricks is better than webflow 10000x fold

even my snn-brx child theme + bricks still better than webflow :upside_down_face:

bricks+wordpress alone is powerfull but it lacks animations compare to webflow thats why you need something with bricks.

Thank you!!

I’m not sure yet, but I may find out over the next little while - so far I find that everything that WF can do can also be done with WP + Bricks. Just some things are more confusing in Bricks than in Webflow, like CSS grid for example.

Will look more into both interactions and conditions. I’ve played around with both for a bit but haven’t used any for real.

Thank you so much!

The animations are the big thing that I’ve noticed - for me it’s not a huge problem since I personally don’t focus on animation heavy websites, but I know that many in the Webflow community do.

I’ve heard amazing things about motion.page, I’ll have to try it when I do have some more complex animation needs!

Bricksforge is a Bricks specific plug-in which brings animations, pro forms, and a number of other tools to the toolbox.

yep

price the value higher on bricksforge for sure

motion.page completely focuses on animations only

Welcome, a pleasure to have you. I would recommend Automatic CSS (CSS Framework for massive time-saving and just generally awesomeness). There is a full free course on how to use it (ACSS 101), and a general pagebuilding course (Pagebuilding 101) both on YouTube.

And then a form plugin, Bricks has it’s own form element, if you find it ever becomes limited, checkout WS Form, WS Form can do (almost) ANTHING.

I’ll be watching your video today, again so good to have you here.
