You can achieve this with the mega-menu option within the nav element. Menu Builder – Bricks Academy
You can also use the Caret option within the dropdown to get that arrow effect instead of using icons on the parent menu item.

You can go full width with the contents being boxed like this … the white background stretches from outside to outside.
