I was really hoping with the addition of Component Slots that I’d have the ability to create a streamlined page builders for my clients.
Clients should only really need to focus on the content and Component Slots would be a great way to achieve this.
The problem: The current implementation requires you to dig into the structure panel and then navigate a large pool of elements to find what’s appropriate.
What would be preferable for client usage is to have a selection of appropriate options for the slot provided to them.
Each slot could be represented as a plus icon on the canvas. When a plus sign is clicked, the predefined options for that specific slot would be displayed as a list to select from. The client would never have to touch the structure panel, aside from adding elements all they’d need to do is fill out the predefined properties of the components.
At the top level you could have a slot for the various prebuilt section components. Each of those components could then have slots for the various types of content they allow.
This way you can lock clients into a system with the goal of maintaining consistency while giving some flexibility.
I really hope you consider making this possible.
