Can I switch from 1.5 beta to 1.5 stable when it is released

Hello everyone,

I am currently installing Bricks for the first time, so I would like to learn and work with all features currently available. That’s why I chose the Beta (I create my own, private portfolio site, so I am tolerant if there still occur some bugs that do not result in a massive data loss that I can not recover).

The only question I have, is if and how I can switch from 1.5 Beta to 1.5 stable when the stable version will be released?

Have a great day!

One last thing: Does anyone know how long it normally takes or might take until 1.5 stable will be released?

Provided you have your licence installed, you should be able to update right from WordPress.

If for some reason it doesn’t give you the option, you can always download the zip from your Account – Bricks page and install it as a “new” theme in WordPress. It’ll ask you if you’re sure because an older version is already installed. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks a lot for your fast answer! :slightly_smiling_face:

But by doing this (1.5 beta → 1.5 stable), am I in danger to overwrite something (Settings, Content, …)?

Do you know how long it usually takes for the stable version to catch up?

I don’t think I can personally guarantee that but I don’t think the lead dev would send something that would break your server intentionally. Maybe by accident

Most intentional breaking changes up until this point have buttons to convert old code to new code in the settings.

Keep calm and upgrade on… I am sure it will all go smoothly with your future portfolio, but to keep feeling safe, you better back up your files and database instead of worrying…

This is your best plugin to do so…

Thanks for your answer. I regularly do backups, but thank you for the plugin recommendation.

Just wanted to know if it needs a complete reinstall were it is normal to loose content when moving from beta to stable or if this should not happen normally.

Thank you for your answers! @cmstew @etobic

No problem. Plus, the lead dev announced a couple hours ago on Facebook that there will be a release candidate coming out sometime next week.

So that partially answers your other question. Although ETAs are pretty rare these days. Most updates are finished when they’re finished. Lol

Thanks for the information! ( I know ETAs are difficult, just wanted to know if its something that takes a few weeks or many months usually. )
