As a long-time Bricks user, I’d love to see a few game-changing features added to take Bricks to the next level:
Bi-Directional CSS Sync: The ability to write custom CSS directly within Bricks and have those values automatically populate the visual property fields. This would save time for devs who prefer custom code.
Bi-Directional HTML Sync: Full access to HTML, with changes made in the builder reflecting directly in the HTML and vice versa.
Direct HTML/CSS Pasting: A way to paste custom HTML or CSS code directly into the builder without needing to go through multiple steps.
Auto Block Authoring: Create reusable, customizable blocks that speed up the design process.
These features aren’t just for beginners — they’d benefit professionals and advanced users too. I know adding them won’t be easy, but they could help retain users and make Bricks even more competitive.
Why this matters:
A lot of users have switched to builders like EtchWP for these types of features (2-way CSS/HTML sync, direct code pasting, etc.), and Etch even offers weekly updates and direct communication with their dev team.
I love Bricks and have many client sites built with it, but these additions would make Bricks even better and help keep users engaged.
Thanks for considering! Let’s keep pushing Bricks forward.
The Bi-Direction stuff is pretty cool in Etch, but Bricks is still more robust and easier to use than Etch is unless you are hard core and use an IDE or text editor to develop with.
Using AI to generate a web page and then copy/pasting the code directly into Etch is a huge advantage. Bricks needs to be able to do that or Bricks should have a way to develop with Claude directly in the builder. AI is the future whether we like it or not.
Email support from Bricks is exceptional and is hard to beat.
Beyond the obvious workflow improvements, bi-directional CSS sync would bring major architectural benefits: unified CSS architecture (all element styles in one place regardless of source), enhanced Class Manager (ability to see and edit actual CSS styles, not just rename/delete class names), and elimination of the Custom CSS field (replaced by this much more powerful approach). This would create a true “single source of truth” for styling while maintaining the visual editing experience. Game-changer for professional development!
This would really bridge the gap between visual editing and coding.
Right now it feels like we have to choose one or the other, but syncing both would make workflows so much smoother.
It’s the kind of feature that keeps advanced users from looking at other builders.
Absolutely agree — bi-directional CSS/HTML sync and direct pasting are game-changing features.
They’ll save tons of time for devs who rely on custom code.
Bricks needs this to stay future-proof and compete strongly with EtchWP.
Please, @thomas Thomas, take a look at this feature—our community and developers would really benefit from it. Implementing this could truly take Bricks to the next level.
This would be a game changer. I don’t know how easy this would be to implement after the release of 2.0 but it would be amazing… (Provided it’s not just a little JS hack on the client side lol)
Absolutely! As a heavy AutomaticCSS & Frames user, I’ve been following Etch since day one, and this new feature really got me thinking about switching builders. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy coding websites, but I also love the convenience of ready-made modules and quick layouting — and that’s still not Etch’s strongest point (yet!). The pricing also feels a bit on the high side for me personally. But if Bricks ever nails true bi-directional CSS/HTML sync in V3… that would honestly be a dream come true!
I strongly agree with this. It will keep users from switching over and I think it will be necessary to remain competitive.
As someone else already commented, Etch has developed an extremely practical way to use AI in Wordpress. The ability to generate pages by copy/pasting code directly into the builder, without friction and scrambling throughout menus, is an extremely disruptive innovation in the Wordpress space.
Really love Bricks and IMO this should shift towards top priority.
+1 Real-time HTML/CSS sync would be a game-changer for dev’s who prefer direct code editing.
Would love to see Bricks bridge the gap between visual and code-based workflows!
Totally agree with this! We really need proper CSS and HTML panels where we can just type directly instead of clicking through endless panels to tweak simple stuff. If Bricks could sync our manual code changes with the visual settings automatically, that would be a huge time-saver for devs who like working hands-on with code.
Adding attention to this… recently switched to Bricks… considered going the Etch route because of features like bi-directional sync, but appreciate the mature Bricks ecosystem and community here. A nice benefit of bi-directional sync (in my opinion, anyway) is regardless of how you’re designing/developing, it can strengthen your core css knowledge and skill.
